TEST: A Substack essay on Britain’s quiet press merger
Development copy. Where: London. Tagged as a Substack original.
Independent writers left the newsroom and took the readers with them. This test filing pretends the essay landed on Substack first, then was printed here as a broadsheet.
Why the tag matters
The desk should be able to point at a Substack URL without stuffing the body full of embeds. The paper carries the text. The chip carries the origin.
A newspaper that cannot name the original desk is just laundering someone else’s work.
- Paste the Substack URL in the story form.
- The chip should read On Substack.
- The globe pin should sit on London.
